Casita Maria Luna was named after the delightful painting of Maria Luna which highlights the fireplace mantle, copied from a fireplace in Marfil, Guanajuato and sculpted by Liza’s talented mother Charlotte. This private casita, authentically and lovingly restored by Liza over 8 years time, is exquisitely furnished with antiques and its own private garden and comes complete with full Mexican kitchen and Jacuzzi bath/shower.
Maria Luna was originally a ruin on the grounds of Casa Liza, when she purchased the property. Now this casita has details like the entry tiles which were photographed from a collection of antique tiles at the Franz Meyer museum in Mexico City, and copied by a very special artesano in Dolores Hidalgo. The wall design was borrowed from the museum in Dolores Hidalgo, the colonial chandelier in the living room of the casita was originally in the dining room of Casa Liza, when Liza saw the chandelier she knew that it would be perfect for the Maria Luna. The Maria Luna has very special paintings by Marion Perlet and the late Victor Cuevas, also a museum collection of retablos, very special antique religions paintings on tin.
The cost is $210 per night for two people, plus tax. $30 for each additional person.
